Description
English Brook is one of the many campsites in Manitoba that provides travelers a beautiful setting as well as an ideal fishing spot. To many its just a gem of a find.
It also comes with history of the early settlers travelling on Lake Winnipeg with their cargo, entering Hollow Water River to English Brook to travel further up to Bissett, Long Lake and central mines.
English Brook was also used by logging companies to transport logs to Manigotagan for lumber milling. Over top of the dam was a square timber bridge with a foundation of concrete. The concrete slabs that held the bridge up is still visible today. The bridge was used around 1925 - 1940. The bridge supported people and vehicles of that era to either Manigotagan or Bissett to travel by boat to Curry Landing. From Curry's Landing people travelled by road to Bissett.
I was lucky enough to capture this view in autumn when the fall colors surrounding the Brook turned this Manitoba campsite into a showcase of splendor.
Many thanks to the following groups for featuring "English Brook Showcase."
